Super Cool Girlie Wallets

I wanted a cool wallet like the one I made for Renee, so I made one!  Also, I decided that I'll give a little sneak peak at how I make these brilliant creations:

Start by laying strips of duck tape sticky side up, slightly overlapping each other.

Lay your patterned strips sticky side down, slightly overlapping, on top of the sticky side up, so the sticky sides are together.  This is what is called making duck tape "fabric."  Once you get this down, you can make virtually anything.

Trim off the uneven edges.

Fold the "fabric" into the basic shape that you want it.  Cut strips of duck tape to the length of the seal you want to make.

Fold the strips lengthwise, and place it sticky side out, connecting the sides together.  This is very important, because it ensures that you don't have any sticky spots on the inside of your creation.

Make smaller "fabric" pieces for your pockets.

Fold the "fabric" in half.  Use one piece to secure the back of the pocket so that there are no holes behind your pockets.

Use the same technique above to secure the sides of the pockets.

Lay your pockets on top of each other evenly spaced.

To get the plastic window, I cut apart badge/ID holders.  A pack of 12 of these is $3-$4.

Cut tiny strips to go over 3 edges of the plastic.

Fold these sticky side out to secure this pocket to the larger pocket behind it.

Stick all the pockets to the wallet.

Cover all of the showing sticky side out edges, to fully secure the pockets down.  I use a Safeway card to make sure that the pockets will fit cards easily.

I use velcro for the flap.  This is the finished inside of the wallet.

Finished closed wallet.  I may add a strap in the style of the purses I've made, but I haven't decided if I want to do that yet.

Update:  Decided to go with the strap.  I like to be as hands-free as possible.
